VEX-P – The combined drilling and chamfering tool
Efficient combination of drilling, front and back chamfering in One Operation.
The VEX-P tool combines a replaceable solid carbide high performance drill insert with HEULE's economical SNAP chamfering system to enable drilling and front and back chamfering in a single process.
- Reduction of process times by performing two machining operations in One Operation.
- Easy-to-exchange carbide drilling plates with material-specific cutting geometries and coatings.
- Manually exchangeable carbide chamfering blades with material-specific coatings.
- For bores from diameters 11.00 mm to 16.99 mm and bore depths up to 2 times diameter.
- Short set-up and idle times due to easy handling.
The VEX-P tool concept is used for medium-sized bores from diameters 11.00 mm to 16.99 mm. Typical applications include brake discs, wheel hubs, flange parts and sections. The combination of boring and front and back chamfering in a single tool cuts process time by reducing the tool change and requirements. The work piece can be removed from the machine completely drilled and chamfered without requiring any other operation. Coated carbide blades guarantee a long service life. The drilling bit, the SNAP chamfering blade and the tools are manufactured to tight tolerances. This eliminates the need for re-measuring the tool system after tool or blade changes. The VEX-P drilling bit and the SNAP chamfering blade are very easy to exchange. This easy handling ensures short set-up and idle times.
For drilling work, the tool is equipped with a drilling bit. Drilling is followed by front and back chamfering with the integrated SNAP chamfering system.
The SNAP chamfering blade is held by a spring-loaded control bolt in the tool body allowing it to move. The specially ground SNAP blade for front and back or only back cutting produces the required chamfer by forward feed. As soon as the defined chamfer thickness has been achieved, the SNAP blade radially enters the tool body. The chamfer thickness and chamfer angle are geometrically defined on the SNAP blade and can only be modified by inserting a SNAP blade with different specifications. When it exits the bore, the SNAP blade is returned to its home position by the spring-loaded control bolt.
As standard, VEX-P tools are available for bores from Ø 11.00 mm to Ø 16.99 mm with bore depths of 1 times diameter and 2 times diameter. VEX-P drilling plates are available from Ø 11.00 mm in 0.1 mm increments. Intermediate sizes and other dimensions upon request.
The chamfering blades correspond to the SNAP8 and SNAP12 series. They are available from Ø 11.5 mm x 90° in 0.5 mm increments for front and back or only back cutting. Other dimensions upon request.
