The manufacturer of this turbocharger housing was looking for a solution to deburr the difficult to access bore for the exhaust valve flap.

HEULE recommended the chamfering tool SNAP20/Ø21 with blade SNAP20 Ø23.0/90°, forward and backwards cutting, carbide-TiN coated (GH-Q-M-03772).

Due to the minimal space left for entering the tool, the access has to be done with positioned and stillstanding spindle. The spindle has to be orientated so that blade is 180° opposite of the Ø62.0 mm (see images). Please consider the same procedure for the moving out of the part.

Machining parameters:

  • Working speed: 500 rev/min.
  • Feed: 0.1 mm/rev.
  • Spring force: +3 revolutions
  • Cooling: with external coolant

The advantage of the SNAP tool in this situation is that the tool can reach the bore edge despite of the interfering edge.  A tool with a diameter that equals the needed deburring diameter would be too wide. So he can work with an econimic standard tool with replacable blades in a not too sophisticated machining center.
