Description
The customer, an Indian subcontractor to the aircraft industry, was looking for an automatable solution in order to render the deburring process more reliable and more efficient. The process to be substituted was manual work. Three staff deburred the front and back edges of the bores with carbide blades by hand.

Benefits for the customer
The production time needed for the complete workpiece could be reduced from 90 minutes down to 20 minutes. The deburring of the 23 bores (46 edges) requires 5.1/2 minutes. In other words, the time savings achieved compared to the manual process amount to roughly 70 minutes.
The tool consumption was reduced considerably, too. The monthly demand of 400 carbide blades used for the manual work changed to 5 blades only for the COFA tool.
