The customer produces around 200‘000 wheel hub for trucks per year.
The customer was looking for a solution to chamfer the front and the back of the through holes in one setup and to standardize machining tools.
The solution from HEULE is the simple and efficient SNAP Chamfering tool. Without the need for turning the workpiece nor stopping the spindle it frees the bore edges from burrs and provides them with a chamfer. SNAP is distinguished by an incredibly simple and fast blade change done by hand and without any tools.
The selected tool for the chamfering application on both sides is a standard SNAP12/Ø22 with a working length of 75mm.
Working speed: 890 rpm, Cutting speed vc of 70 m/min.
Working feed: 0.3 mm/rev.
The customer focus of this project was simplifying the manufacturing process (i.e. by machining in one clamping setup only) and standardizing the machining tools.
By using the SNAP tool with a special blade the customer machine the workpiece in one setup.
The customer is fully satisfied by the resulting qualtiy and the achieved cycle time. The desired standardizing of the machining tools has been implemented successfully.
