Our customer, an international company in the energy and machine construction industry, had a number of thread bores in a cast part. These screw connections caused material deformations which caused breakages when dismantled again. The solution to the problem: recesses in the thread bores that allowed punctual material relief.

Given the restriction that the workpiece had to be machined without reclamping, there was no alternative to applying the required recesses by back bore machining. This means that the access to the bore end to be machined takes place through the bore itself. HEULE recommended its SOLO countersinking tool for this application:

  • Speed: 2'228 rev/min
  • Feed: 0.05 mm/rev
