The customer, a subcontracting company in France, made a deburring trial with an existing COFA C12 tool. However, this tool dimension could not meet his requirements. He needed a rather small deburring but as consistent as possible. This is why the customer got in touch with us and asked us to carry out trials to select the suitable tool.

The red circle shows the result of the customer's own deburring trial. It did not satisfy him because the deburred diameter was too big.

  • Material thickness: Tube 30x22
  • Material: Copper

HEULE carried out trials with three different tools:
1. COFA C8/12.2/W
2. COFA C8/12.0/W
3. COFA 8/12.0/W

The trial with tool number 1 led to a slightly too large deburring diameter. Whereas the following two trials with tools number 2 and 3 achieved good results. The machining parameters were identical for both tools:

Machining parameters:

  • Speed: 500 rev/min
  • Feed 0.15 mm/rev

The difference between the two results is a slightly different geometrical shape of the deburred edge.

Thanks to these trials the customer received the tool that performs best for his needs - sizewise and shapewise.

It is important to know precisely what the customer is aiming for in terms of deburring result in order to define the right tool dimension. Results may differ considerably!
