A subcontractor to the German automotive industry produces a mounting bracket for the suspension. In the course of process optimizing, the customer wanted to eliminate the manual deburring of the four through holes and to machine the workpiece to completion in one setup.

For this application, the drill-chamfer-combination tool VEX-P GH-Q-O-4126 with indexable insert P-P-C-1100-1D and a SNAP8 blade GH-Q-M1327 was selected. In order to access the bore edge in between the two ridges, the customer reduced the tool body diameter by turning it simply to the suitable size. The trial ended successfully.

The manual deburring could be abandoned. The high cutting data of the new process are responsible for being able to maintain the cycle time of the previous full carbide drill. Now, the hole is being drilled and deburred front and back in one single pass.
