Gearbox Housing

Descrizione

A subcontractor for cast parts in Czechia wanted to render the production of 8 bores in a gearbox housing more efficient. Above all, the manual deburring and the related process uncertainties should be eliminated.

Application details

  • 8 Bores per workpiece
  • Bore diameter: Ø5.5 mm
  • Bore depth: 8 mm
  • Material: Steel
  • Machine: Mori Seiki NL 2000-12
  • Yearly volume: approx. 50'000 bores

Proposed solution

Proposed solution

The proposed solution is a VEX drill-combi-tool that also takes care of the chamfering of both bore edges immediately after the drilling, in other words, in a single pass.

Tool: VEX GH-Q-O-4051
Helical drill bit: P-S-B4-0550-1A
Chamfer blade: GH-Q-M-30205

Machining parameters:

  • Speed: 3500 rev./min.
  • Feed: 0.08 mm/rev.

Customer benefits

Customer benefits

The eliminating of the manual deburring has increased the reliability of the process. 100% of the bores are deburred and in an even manner. The switch to the drill-combi tool has also led to significant savings (2 man-hours per shift).
